About Dr Gaurav Shankar Medikeri

Dr. Gaurav Medikeri
Specialised in Rhinology
His first fellowship training was in Seoul, South Korea in Rhinoplasty and facial cosmetic surgery. He trained there extensively and has performed primary and revision rhinoplasty surgeries (Nose jobs) for national and international patients.
His second fellowship in Rhinology and anterior skull base surgery, was at Aintree University hospital, Liverpool, United Kingdom. This is a referral center for head and neck cancers. In collaboration with Walton Neuro center, they routinely performed endoscopic skull base surgeries. Therefore, he performs Pituitary surgery, Clival chordomas, Olfactory neuroblastoma, CSF leak repairs etc. He has been awarded a Fellowship from the Royal college of Surgeons of London.

Sinusitis Research work
He has done research on the use 3-D printing in the management of large septal perforations. The failure rate with other techniques is pretty high. This paper has been published in an International Journal.

In addition, he worked on a lab based research project at the Liverpool school of tropical medicine on “Intranasal use of probiotics to treat Chronic rhino sinusitis”. He presented it at the British Rhinological society meeting and won an award.

Cadaver Skull base Dissections
He routinely attends and mentors cadaver dissection Programs. He was trained by Dr. P J Wormald from Australia at one such cadaver training course at Southampton.
He did a cadaveric dissection study on Adjunctive techniques to improve access of the endoscopic pre-lacrimal recess approach. This study is published in “The Laryngoscope” – A journal of international repute in the world of ENT.
